Founded in Markham, Ontario (Canada) in 1986, CMS Manufacturing Systems recently merged with XKO Software Limited of the United Kingdom (UK). Now known as Solarsoft, the company offers enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems to manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers and merchants. With its software products, the company provides installation services. Its professional services teams are located in 12 offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. Solarsoft's clients are mid-size manufacturers and distributors from a variety of industries operating in tight supply chain relationships with their clients.

TROPOS was developed by SSI as a modular ERP system to support the process model of manufacturing and the concept of demand-pull. TROPOS has been used in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food & drink, textiles, paper, packaging, metals and electronics. Rapid configuration and simple integration were original design principles, making TROPOS the ideal backbone for the extended ERP environment.
